6th Annual Barber Vintage Festival

Mike and Mandy Finnie accompanied Diane and me to the Vintage Motorcycle Festival at beautiful Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.  One thing you don't have to worry about at the festival is finding something to keep you busy.   Events include a swap meet, a motorcycle auction, an airshow, skydivers, trials, cross-country, and, of course, road racing.  And if that's not enough, there's always the finest motorcycle museum in the country.

First, we checked out some Trials action.
The guest of honor was Sir John Surtees, the only man to have ever won world championships on two wheels and four.  He won no less than seven motorcycle Grand Prix world championships.   Here he is on the MV Augusta he rode in the 50's.
And the Formula One Ferrari he drove in the 60's.
We set up camp on the Turn 2 hillside and watched the airshow and sky divers.
Then we enjoyed watching the side car monkeys and road racers.
On Sunday, I saw the coolest Harley I've ever seen.
And on Monday, we enjoyed the autumn colors during a leisurely ride home.
